Workshops In Fes
Where Ancient Craft Comes Alive
The only destination for every workshop in Fes: pottery, zellige, weaving, leather, brass & beyond.
About Workshops in Fes:
Fes is a living museum of craft.
We open its doors.
Workshops in Fes is the first and most comprehensive platform connecting curious travellers — and lifelong learners, with the master artisans who keep Morocco’s most ancient crafts alive. We are not a souvenir shop. We are not a tour company with a side stop at a pottery barn. We are a dedicated craft-experience platform, built by people who live in Fes and love it deeply.
The medina of Fes el-Bali is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest car-free urban zones on earth. Inside its labyrinthine alleys, families have been passing down skills in zellige tilework, hand-thrown pottery, leather tanning, carpet weaving, brass engraving, woodcarving, and calligraphy for over a thousand years. Our mission is simple: make those workshops genuinely accessible, unforgettable, and fairly rewarded for the artisans who make them.=
Whether you have an afternoon or a week, we will match you with the right workshop, the right craftsperson, and the right experience, hands-on, in the actual atelier, with no tourist theatre.

Our Story :
Born and Raised in Fes
We grew up in Fes, a city where craftsmanship is part of everyday life.
From an early age, we watched artisans shape clay into pottery, cut and assemble leather by hand, carve intricate patterns into brass, and create the beautiful zellige mosaics that have made Fes famous around the world. These crafts are not simply products; they are a living part of our heritage, passed from one generation to the next.
As tourism in Fes grew, we noticed that many visitors admired these traditions from a distance. They walked through workshops, watched artisans at work, took photographs, and left. Few had the opportunity to truly understand the skill, patience, and passion behind every piece.
That inspired us to create Workshops in Fes.
Our goal is simple: to connect visitors with the people who keep these traditions alive. We wanted travelers to experience Fes with their own hands, shaping clay, painting pottery, weaving textiles, crafting leather, engraving brass, and discovering the stories behind each craft.
At the same time, we wanted to support local artisans by creating meaningful opportunities for them to share their knowledge, preserve their craft, and benefit directly from their work.
Today, we proudly collaborate with talented artisans across the medina, offering authentic workshops inside real working ateliers. Every experience is rooted in the traditions of Fes and guided by people who have dedicated their lives to mastering their craft.
When you join a workshop, you are doing more than making a souvenir. You are becoming part of a story that has been unfolding in Fes for centuries.
Because the best way to discover Fes is not by watching, it’s by creating.

Why Workshops in Fes
Real craft.
Real artisans.
Real Fes.
The Only Comprehensive Platform
We offer more workshop disciplines in Fes than anyone else — all in one place, all bookable, all verified. No more hunting through the medina wondering if an experience is genuine.
Artisan-First, Always
Every workshop is led by a verified master craftsperson. We never use intermediaries. The artisan designs the session, receives fair pay, and builds a relationship with you directly.
Inside the Living Medina
Our ateliers are inside Fes el-Bali itself, not in a hotel annex or a purpose-built tourist workshop. You work where the craft actually lives, surrounded by its natural context.
Responsible & Community-Led
A portion of every booking supports artisan welfare programmes and the preservation of endangered craft techniques in Fes. Tourism, done right, keeps traditions alive.
You don’t just watch in Fes. You sit down, pick up the tools, and make something. That’s the difference between a tourist and someone who has truly been here.
The principles that guide everything we do
Authenticity
Every experience must be exactly what it claims. No shortcuts, no stagecraft, no “inspired by” substitutes. If it’s a pottery workshop, it’s in a pottery atelier, with a potter.
Fairness
Our artisans set their own prices and keep the majority of every booking. We exist to amplify their reach, not to extract value from their skills.
Preservation
We actively document, promote, and fund endangered craft techniques. Tourism should be a lifeline for tradition, not the thing that commodifies it into extinction.
Connection
The most important thing that happens in our workshops isn’t the object you make. It’s the conversation, the shared focus, the moment of understanding across language and culture.
Artisans
The hands behind every workshop Master Artisans of Fes Certified by the Artisan Guild, Fes el-Bali
Who you’ll learn from :
Craftspeople who have devoted their lives to a single art
Every artisan on our platform is verified through Fes’s traditional craft guilds — organisations that have maintained quality and heritage for centuries. Our potters have 20, 30, sometimes 40 years at the wheel. Our zellige masters learned from their fathers, who learned from theirs. Our weavers know patterns by memory that exist nowhere else on earth.
When you book a workshop with us, you are not attending a demonstration. You are entering someone’s life’s work, and they will teach you with the same patience and precision they would a new apprentice.
